so after all the major S**T talking, we missed Friday's Wild Style event, but for good reason though- Alex was designing the official Ms. Machete AF1's and Jaq was loafing (ok, maybe not such a good reason).... but we were NOT going to miss Saturday's festivities. (yessssss, we were late. but whadda you expect?! we HHF/IRG. ere'body come get wit the lingo).

I've often walked by the huge frosted doors of the NIKE I-D Lab on Elizabeth St. wide-eyed and curious as to what layeth behind that sandblasted glass reading: "by appointment only." On Friday night those pearly gates were opened by none other than the Sneaker King himself, Bobbito Garica. After the release of his personally- designed gorgeous new Air Force One's in April (you heard it first from me in the feature on Baobab Connections), Nike popped a celebration at the Lab in honor of Bob. I was one of the priveldged 20 guests invited to custom design a pair of personalized Air Force Ones!!! Ch ch check it out!...

Ok, so Thursday was a doosy. The Harlem Hellfighters (HHF) were all tired after working the day/night job...but things were about to get crackin. The MAIN EVENT: SMIRNOFF'S jump off! YES...we were rsvp'd....and proud!

BUT...........First we hit up the Atmos party...just a hop, wop and cabbage patch jump away. Of course we were runnin on that CP time, so needless to say we missed the open bar ...courtesy of HENNESSY! BOO! BIG BOOOOOOO!



The brightly lit room (I'm talking like day time store hour lighting...give me a break...) everyone was slightly uncomfortable with those harsh fluorescents in lieu of the usual dark club experience... Not a good look... Vous comprenez?



and then...by the grace of the Lord...we got word that supplies were replenished....SCORE! The news traveled quickly across that bright ass room...and the party tallied a few more points.

Get it together son....


After that fiasco we all braved the rain and the party moved downtown to REWIND to get down with the wicked dj Evil D


THEN we walked a couple blocks to SUTRA....for POISON PEN's album release party, presented by IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE and hosted by our girl NIRE......

Summer of Love '07!!!

we're sooooo excited because tomorrow is the first official day of summer!



we're christening the 40 year anniversary of the summer of love with crazy jumpoffs. first, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, and DJ Premier's event. there's also the ATMOS joint. AND Beans and Plan B at Hiro Ballroom. of course, we probably won't make it to all of these but here's one, hosted by our girl NIRE, that we will most definitely be at.

we dragged our lil selves out the house on thursday to show some love to Sa-Ra and company (heeello, ?uestlove and Pete Rock! ). no, we did not go to The Roots show (boo hoo) but we still got our lil groove on at Crash Mansion. don't get it twisted though: no no no groupie love b! haha, seriously though...we were maxing and relaxing in the green room all night. best available seats in the house.
